Submission Guidelines

Author Guidelines

The Journal of Pericardiology (JOP) welcomes the submission of high-quality, original manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in pericardial diseases, cardiovascular medicine, and related clinical research. Authors are encouraged to ensure that their work adheres to ethical research practices and the academic standards expected in scientific publishing before submitting a manuscript.

Before submission, authors must ensure that their research complies with the following ethical and professional responsibilities:

  • Research must be conducted with scientific integrity and professional responsibility.
  • All legal and ethical requirements must be followed during the conduct and reporting of research.
  • Proper acknowledgment of all sources, data, and contributions must be provided.
  • Necessary permissions must be obtained when using clinical case materials, patient data, or identifiable information.
  • If an error affecting interpretation of findings is identified, authors must promptly notify the editorial office for correction or withdrawal.

1. Types of Manuscripts Accepted

The Journal of Pericardiology considers the following categories of submissions:

  • Original research articles presenting novel scientific or clinical findings
  • Review articles summarizing recent developments in pericardial and cardiovascular research
  • Clinical case reports and case series relevant to pericardial disorders
  • Methodological or technical papers with clinical relevance

2. Originality and Prior Publication

Submitted manuscripts must represent original work that has not been previously published and is not currently under consideration by another journal.

Authors must ensure that all submissions are their own intellectual work and that appropriate credit is given to previously published material. Any form of plagiarism, duplicate submission, or unethical reuse of content is strictly prohibited.

3. Manuscript Preparation

Authors are encouraged to prepare manuscripts in a clear, concise, and organized format to facilitate the review and publication process.

  • Manuscripts should be prepared on A4-sized pages with standard margins
  • Times New Roman font should be used throughout the document
  • Font size: 12 with 1.5 line spacing
  • Figures and tables should be clearly labeled and centered
  • APA style should be used for references and citations
  • Abstract: 150–250 words with 4–6 keywords
  • Maximum manuscript length: approximately 8,000 words including references

A typical manuscript should include:

  • Title accurately reflecting the study content
  • Abstract summarizing objectives, methods, and findings
  • Introduction outlining background and study objectives
  • Materials and Methods describing the research design
  • Results presenting findings clearly
  • Discussion and/or Conclusion interpreting the results
  • Tables and Figures clearly labeled and cited
  • References formatted according to citation style

Where applicable, statistical methods must be clearly described and appropriate for the study design.

4. Language Requirements

All manuscripts must be written in clear and professional academic English. Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, readability, and grammatical correctness of their manuscript prior to submission.

If language issues significantly affect clarity or comprehension, the editorial office may recommend professional language editing before the manuscript proceeds to further stages of review.

For additional instructions and detailed submission requirements, authors should consult the Author Guidelines available on the publisher’s website.

5. Authorship Policy

Authorship should accurately reflect substantial scholarly contributions to the research and manuscript preparation.

Requests to add, remove, or rearrange authors—either before or after publication—must be supported by a written explanation and consent from all authors involved. If disagreements arise regarding authorship, the editorial office may suspend the editorial process until the issue is resolved.

6. Editorial Decisions

Following the peer review process and consideration of reviewer reports, the editor may reach one of the following decisions:

  • Accept the manuscript
  • Accept subject to minor revisions
  • Request major revisions
  • Reject the manuscript

Authors will receive feedback from reviewers and editors to improve the quality of their work. The final decision regarding publication rests with the Editor-in-Chief.

The Journal of Pericardiology follows an open-access publishing model, ensuring that published research is freely accessible to readers worldwide.
