Archiving and Preservation Policy
At the Journal of Pericardiology (JOP), we are determined to ensure that the research published by us will be available and can be used in the coming years. When an article is published it becomes a part of the scientific record - and it must remain there, not lost in the technological, platform, or web updates.
This policy has been described on how the journal archives its published materials in order to ensure that its authors, researchers, clinicians and students can still refer to and use the same materials in the long run.
Why Archiving Matters
The scientific research is based on previous research. Published today articles may be:
- The cited works in further research.
- Applying in teaching and clinical training.
- Used in the development of policy or guidelines.
- Considered after some years to understand history or to analyze.
By maintaining published work, one ensures that such ties are maintained and knowledge does not go to waste.
How We Preserve Articles
In order to be able to access in the long term, JOP does the following:
1. Secure Hosting
Articles published are all zipped up in stable servers where they are backed up on a regular basis to avoid loss of data.
2. Digital Archiving
Published materials are stored in reliable digital archives and repositories that store materials regardless of the systems being modified or switched in web sites.
3. Permanent Accessibility
An article is published once, and it is available online and can be accessed endlessly and without restrictions or obstructing factors.
4. Downloadable Files
The articles are available to the reader as a standard format ( e.g. PDF ) so that one is able to access an article even when he or she is in the offline mode.
Keeping the Record Safe
Archiving is not only a matter of storage, but also a matter of maintaining faith in the scientific record. It could be a journal that was written last month or last decade, but the Journal of Pericardiology is committed to ensuring that the research remains accessible and reliable so that even in the future, it can continue to benefit the community.
